Standard 9: Leadership and Collaboration
The teacher is a leader who engages collaboratively with learners, families, colleagues, and community members to build a shared vision and supportive professional culture focused on student growth and success.
- A teacher should participate as a team member for the learners, the school, and the community to develop a shared culture and to meet differential needs of learners.
Goal:
- To collaborate with principal (Observation), teachers (PLC), mentors (monthly meeting), other schools' dual immersion teachers (Chinese DLI Professional Development) regularly to enhance teaching skills. Also, keep on same page with parents is important, too. In addition of weekly email sent to parents, I will work with parents when needed to enhance student growth and success.
Goal reflection:
- Teachers should collaborate with students, families, colleagues, and community members to build a shared vision. I discuss students' growth and behavior nearly daily. We also meet formally three times a week (DLI collaboration meeting with partner teacher only once a week, PLC meeting as grade level twice a week). The principal come to my classroom visit at least once a month for information and formation observation and give me feedback after observation. As school wide, we meet at least twice a month, PLC together and faculty meeting.
- Education is not only teachers' responsibility but also all members in the community. Parents are especially important in their children’s learning so to communicate with parents/guardians is important to make learning successful. I want parents to know that I care about their children and want students to learn. Ways of communication include class website, emails, phone calls, texts, notes, face to face, and other method that is convenience for the teacher and parents

Evidence reflection:
- I love to collaborate with my students, parents, partner teacher, other teachers in school, principal, and community to make our kids learn the best. You will never know how big benefit you will gain by working together with them. I discuss students development and behavior with my partner teacher nearly everyday; I also discuss and seek for advise with 1st grade DLI teacher daily; also, I meet with all 2nd grade teachers at least twice a week; I meet with building mentor and other new teachers once a month; as school level, all faculties meet together at least twice a week; in state wide level, all Chinese DLI teachers meet together at least once a year or three times a year for professional development. All our meeting are meaningful and useful. I love to meet with other teachers to discuss what problems we have met and seek for suggestions to solve the problem or just simply share our success story. I love getting other teachers' experience to enhance my teaching skills and strategies.
