Standard 1: Learner Development
The teacher understands cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical areas of student development.
- I can understand areas of student development and practice the understanding to daily lesson based on each student’s strengths, interests, and needs.
Goal:
- Collaborates with English partner teacher and communicate with parents to promote student growth and development in different areas. .
- As we share the same group of students, it is significant to collaborate with my English partner teacher to fully understand students learning progress as some students act differently in my classroom and in my English partner teacher's classroom. Besides school-wide meetings, we meet after school nearly daily to have a short talk about students behavior and learning process. Also, we have a formal meeting on every Tuesday before grade-level PLC this school year to follow up weekly assign tasks, curriculum on target language and English, monitoring students, and team problem solving.
- Besides collaborating with my partner teacher, it is extremely important to work with parents and have the parents stand on the same page as we are. It should works better when a teacher can involve parents in regarding to students' development in either academic area or social and emotional area.

Evidence Reflection:
I like it the way we share students so we can discuss with students development together instead of just figure it out myself. It works great that I think every teacher should have a partner teacher even they don't share same student group. It is wonderful, especially for new teachers, to have a partner teacher to discuss things with. It doesn't need to be formal every time. Instead, I sometimes find that I learn more to increase my ability to help students development on occasional chatting.
I believe if a teacher can communicate regularly regard students' development with student parents, he/she can make teaching easier and more comfortable. Besides weekly email, I am very often to email or text particularly parents to discuss their kids' development. I don't only contact parents for problem behavior or behind academic progress, I contact parents when I see a student is in progressing as well. I love to let parents know what and how their children are doing in school. I ask for parents' help from home as well and it most of time works great.
